A simple pair of poems I wrote a few years ago but that still hold true to the same meaning.
Two Rough Beams
Two rough beams,
Made into a cross on a hill;
Calvary covered by many,
Some to jeer, others to weep.
Casting lots for simple clothes,
The soldiers did their jobs.
Laying Him upon that cross
Feet together, arms apart.
Praying lips from an open heart,
Nail pierced feet and hands
A sword piercing His side
Words of love and trust flow
As the blood from His wounds.
Promising salvation to the men at His sides
Weakening he prays for the human race
Tears pouring in waves upon his cheeks.
The skies darken, thunder and lightening crash
As he drew His last human breath.
People ran from the storm.
He slumped lifeless against the cross.
Taken from the cross to a tomb;
Laid eternally to be missed and mourned.
Three days later adornment their plan,
But He wasn’t there, empty air in His place.
2 angels sat upon the door,
Speaking of our risen Lord.
3 days in the darkness, now within the light
Arisen He is to live forevermore.
Walking along the streets the arisen is met.
Followers doubtful in the dark days,
Awakened to the truth in His light,
Soon cheered with jubilation.
From that day joyous news spread wide.
Within His name believers baptized
To live eternally in His presence.
Now the choice is up to us
Do we believe?
Do we doubt?
Do we take a leap in faith?
Do we stick where we are?
Make your choice soon,
Don’t doubt the days away.
Life is ever changing
We don’t know our last day.
Made into a cross on a hill;

The Meaning of It All
Do they know?
Do they understand?
All those kids dancing
In their fancy Easter clothes.
The meaning behind it all;
The eggs, the bunny the cross
The brilliant blossoms of new life.
The brightly colored eggs
Hidden in the yard
Symbols of a new life
For each one of us to find.
So fragile is the shell
Kept safe by a strong, open heart.
The bunny so sweet and pure
Innocence and sacrificial
The symbol of Eastre
In her promotion of fertility
Now delivers colorful eggs
For the children to seek.
The cross on a hill
Originally meant crime
Now adorned with a scarf
Symbolizes the greatest sacrifice
Of the most innocent and pure
Eternal life promised for all
New life blossoms because of Him
Upon His shoulders rests our sin
The dripping blood washes clean
All those who pray with esteem
Belief in Him our only requirement
To blossom with the heavenly sent.

Both written in 2010.
